It is now 24 years since Banksy’s Balloon Girl first captured imaginations around the world, and Mr Brainwash has chosen to return to this seminal image of hope but transformed it with a fresh contemporary take of his own, giving it renewed relevance for a modern audience

The familiar young girl no longer watches a single red heart shaped balloon drift away. Instead, she clutches a magnificent bouquet of 24 vibrant balloons, with the iconic red heart still shining at its centre. This is a powerful reversal of the original narrative, as rather than loss, we find abundance. Rather than letting go, we see hope held tightly in the hand of this small child. In classic Mr Brainwash style, the work speaks to love,
optimism and the belief that brighter days are always within reach.

These editions are particularly special because of the remarkable craftsmanship involved in their creation. Each work is a hand-pulled silkscreen, produced using an elaborate, artisanal process in which every colour requires its own individual screen to be pulled by hand, layer upon layer. The result is exceptional depth, richness and texture, while the rigorous, labour-intensive nature of the process enhances both rarity
and collectability.

The timed edition will be open from Wednesday 24th June until Midnight Sunday 5th July.
