Tom Butler’s ‘Love at Last Light’ captures the serene beauty of sunset over London, where the last rays of sunlight create a rich glow over the city’s skyline, throwing the dome of St. Paul’s into sharp relief against the purples and oranges of the sky. The iconic city architecture is reflected in the shimmering surface of the Thames with the red stonework of Blackfriars Bridge picked up in the bright scarlet coat of the woman hurrying along the riverbank. Originally created in Butler’s signature collage style, it combines vibrant textures and intricate details to build a captivating cityscape, rich in atmosphere and emotion. In keeping with the title, the scene evokes a sense of romance as day turns to lamplit night above the couple sitting together in the foreground, enjoying the last light of the day.
