Midnight 65/6 vase has been designed by Kerry Goodwin for the Moorcroft Designer event on the 4th November 2017 at Treeby & Bolton.
Most of the truly great designs introduced by Moorcroft over more than a century are those which rely on colour and linework to create a mood instantly recognisable by someone holding the vase in their hands. Often, these pieces will have been designed to demonstrate, for example, the triumph of light over darkness. Midnight is one such piece. The hour of darkness is beaten by simple purple hellebores growing from a dark green, base and rising upwards towards the rim of a classical Moorcroft vase where the ground colour is a soft cream. To be lifted up among rich purple flowerheads into space symbolized by light itself, is the method Kerry adopted to create her own, personal mood of hope.
