A hand embellished canvas by Bob Barker entitled Something Borrowed.

This Spring 2018 collection signifes the idea of ‘the path we lead’. Bob explores the winding journeys we all take, using his signature motif of two hearts.

This is a twist on the usual motif of two red hearts, as there is one red and one blue. It is a turning point in someone’s life, as he explains: “Maybe the red heart is broken and they borrowed a blue one!” The piece focuses on the shafts of light from the sun, which are created by the leaves in the trees above. As the sun shines through, it makes the rainy day turn sunny side up, giving a feeling of optimism.

About Bob Barker

Bob Barker Art As a Yorkshire man born and bred, nostalgia spurs him to paint by looking back to childhood memories with adult eyes. Memories of the mill his mother worked at as a weaver form a big influence in the images he paints now, as does the industrial footprint left in the Yorkshire mill towns.
