Released as a framed limited edition on box canvas, ‘Handle With Care’ represents an elegant new departure for leading British artist Doug Hyde. The perfect simplicity of the image, a heart outlined in red and the word ‘fragile’ in the artist’s own handwriting, is tempered by a subtle blurring of drips which create the impression that we are viewing it through a misted window. The composition and use of colour pay homage to Hyde’s artistic hero, Rothko, and the piece has an understated beauty all its own.
