Even in the harsh environment of the sea shore, the mother Puffin keeps an attentive look on the horizon as she watches over her baby. And she does so neatly dressed in her black and white plumage, bright beak, and characteristic eye makeup. The Mother’s Day plate has been issued every year since 1969. Created by artist Allan Therkelsen, the motif is – as always – depicted in the beautiful, blue colours of the underglaze.
