A sailing ship as an art object – the SAILOR combines abstract forms with surreal motifs and expressionistic colours, a small work of art that inspires the imagination to travel.
The sail is adorned with an overlay engraving. Overlay engraving is an old, laborious technique of glass finishing that requires a lot of time and the highest precision. For this purpose, a base glass is first covered with a layer of coloured glass. Then this layer of paint is removed from the base glass with an engraving device. The depth of the image is created by the different thickness of the left layer of paint.
